ALL ABOUT PARMA - IN ENGLISH!

Parma mia! is a blog for ex-pats and English-language speakers in Parma as well as for tourists who want to learn more. We've got lots of tips and tidbits to share: where to buy your foreign foods, favorite restaurants, what's on for kids during the weekends, local agricultural fairs, where you can find a babysitter or chiropractor and hints on how to make it through the bureaucratic maze that is Italy (see tabs below). This forum is for you: please share your ideas/events with us at parmamia@gmail.com or on FB at Parma Mia.

Outdoors
Remember it's a great season to take advantage of the beautiful Appenine Mountains (they're still tons of blueberries to pick on Monte Matto) or get your permit to go "Porcini Hunting" in Val di Taro...

Liguria is still beautiful too in this fall season: focaccia and pesto await!

We recently ate at the very (very) low-key Monte Prinzera Agriturismo: an excellent home-cooked meal with a pretty view. The hiking trail behind the structure wasn't much to speak of but apparently there is a better path to lead you up the mountain.

New Dining Experiences
We've heard great things about the new MEET Hamburger restaurant in Parma - for those of you who are craving a quarter-pounder to go with your football games!

Welcome back to Parma!

We hope you've enjoyed (or are still enjoying) your summer. We'll soon be posting our September events page -- hoping to make your transition back to Parma a bit easier! Please let us know if there are any special events you'd like to see listed this month and feel free to send us any general suggestions that you may have about our website as we are planning to make some changes to it this fall. I'd also like to take this opportunity to wish my Parma Mia co-founder and real "mamma" of this project, Sophie, the best of luck in her move back to the real world. The same wish goes out to the other "Maxi Moms" who have left us this summer but whose warmth and friendship helped make our time here in Parma even better. Welcome also to our new 'members'. We look forward to hearing from you!
